About me

Hello, my name is Karla and I would like to welcome you to my website.

I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP).

I know from experience that choosing a counsellor can be daunting. I feel that it is important to let my clients know that I have a BA (Hons) in Integrative counselling.

My way of working is very much based on the Humanistic Gestalt approach.

I work with adults and young people from the age of 11.

I have a working knowledge of Cognitive and Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and I am able to intergrate this into the sessions when appropriate.

My approach

As a counsellor I strongly believe in the human capacity to make positive changes,

whilst valuing everyone's individuality and uniqueness.

My aim is to:

  • Help you to gain new insight into understanding yourself, your challenges and to develop in a way that suits you.

  • Support you to find your inner voice and  manage your difficulties.

  • Empower you in making any changes that you wish to make.

Being client-led, this process is done at your pace. I will work in collaboration with you, enabling you to explore your thoughts and feelings, while supporting you in a calm, confidential, secure and warm space.

I want to hear your voice and understand all that you say. Together we will open a window to a clearer perspective.

My experience

In my private practice I see clients from all walks of life and I work with both adults and young people.

I strongly believe in the uniqueness of us all, I can never know you better than you know yourself. My intention is not to offer you advice but to walk alongside you as you explore your experiences.

I will provide a confidential, supportive and safe environment in which you can do this. It is important to me that all clients feel valued and comfortable enough that they feel able to explore a range of issues. The range of issues clients can present with often include anxiety, depression, difficulties in managing anger, family issues, low mood, both work and school related stress, low self-esteem or confidence and relationship issues.

I have significant experience supporting clients who have suffered recent or historical loss and bereavement. I also currently manage a school counselling provision for 11 to 16 year olds. I have an enhanced DBS certificate.

Through the year I regularly undertake continual professional development. This assures not only my personal growth but further expands and deepens my existing knowledge within counselling.

Your Questions Answered

What is Counselling?

Counselling is a supportive service offered by trained professionals, who are able to support an individual wishing to explore, understand and work towards resolving issues that are causing distress.
Counselling is not a magic wand or an instant solution to a problem. It can provide a deeper understanding to issues and help in making positive changes.

How long does counselling last for?

A counselling session lasts for 50 minutes.

Counselling can be short term  (6-12 week) or long term and is regularly reviewed, together with your counsellor, to ensure your needs are being met.

Where does the counselling take place?

I work from a lovely peaceful room in Chandlers Ford, Hampshire, SO53 5SS there is on-site parking and it is free of charge.

The location is in easy reach of; Eastleigh, Bishopstoke, Botley, Bishops Waltham, Hedge End, North Baddesley, Romsey, Southampton and Winchester.

When are counselling session available?

I offer evening appointments from 5pm week days and Saturday mornings from 9am.

What are your fees?

I offer an initial telephone consultation without obligation.
There after all fees are based upon a 50 minute session and charged at £45.00.

Payment can be made on the day by cash or BACS (bank transfer) prior to sessions.

Fees are reviewed annually.

What if I need to cancel or change a session?

I respectfully request that all cancellations are made giving a full 24 hours notice, otherwise a full session fee will be incurred.

I will try to accommodate a different appointment time to suit your needs where possible.

If a session is missed I would require payment for the missed session before booking a new appointment.
